Police shoot man after roommate stabbing in Cypress Hills, Brooklyn

They say the man with the knife was hit in the torso and immediately fell.

A knife that police say the man officers shot was using to stab his roommate.

Outside, they met several of the roommates, Francis DeJesus, 31, who then returned inside where he grabbed a knife and reemerged to stab the man in both forearms, police said.

Officers told DeJesus to drop the knife and fired a single shot at him when he didn't, police said.

A fight among roommates turned violent and ended with police opening fire Sunday night in Brooklyn, authorities said.

Officers had been responding to a call of a dispute at 110 Shepherd Avenue in Cypress Hills when they found the pair fighting in the backyard shortly before 9 p.m., according to police sources.

He was allegedly stabbing the other individual in both of his arms - and chasing him around the house - when cops showed up on Sunday.

The stabbing victim is listed in stable condition, and the New York Post reports that DeJesus is in serious condition.

Multiple police officers were also transported to the hospital for observation.

Police charged DeJesus with attempted murder and weapon possession.
