Trump Jr.'s statement is a little hard to interpret, but he seems to be indicating that his father did in fact say to Comey that he hoped the FBI could ease up on the Flynn investigation, which was looking into his payments from the Russian and Turkish governments, and that statement should be interpreted a certain way.
"I'll tell you about that in the very near future", Trump said on Friday during a press conference in the White House Rose Garden.
"No collusion, no obstruction. he's a leaker".
Trump denied Comey's claims and said he would be willing to tell that to special counsel Robert Mueller. "I didn't say that and I didn't say the other".
During last week's hearing, Comey added that given the context - this was the president speaking to someone whom he could fire - the former FBI director took the comments "as a direction" from the president about an ongoing federal investigation.
Former FBI Director James Comey testifies before a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing on Russia's alleged interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election on Capitol Hill in Washington, U.S., June 8, 2017.
On Flynn: "I didn't say that". "When [my father] tells you to do something, guess what, there's no ambiguity in it".
Trump's lawyer, Marc Kasowitz, denied both of Comey's claims in a statement on Thursday after the former Federal Bureau of Investigation director's appearance. "Totally illegal? Very 'cowardly!'" Trump said on Twitter.
IOS 11 on the iPad is all kinds of awesome
Measuring 251 x 174 x 6.1mm, it is in fact slightly larger, but makes the most of this real estate with thinner side bezels. When I go back to the MacBook Pro vs. iPad Pro debate, if I had to pick one product, I'd still go back to the MacBook Pro.
Mr Comey also revealed that he had orchestrated the public release of information about his private conversations with the president in an effort to further the investigation.
"I'll tell you about that maybe sometime in the very near future", he said when asked if there were tapes of his conversations with the former Federal Bureau of Investigation director.
In an interview with NBC's Lester Holt just days after Comey was sacked, Trump revealed parts of the conversations and said the FBI director had told him multiple times that he was not under investigation.
Last Thursday Comey said he was the one responsible for releasing the second memo and said the documents were part of an effort to "prompt the appointment of a special counsel" to lead the Russian Federation investigation in the FBI.
Within 90 seconds of being on air, Trump Jr. undermined the denials made by his father refuting James Comey's testimony. "I am also deeply concerned about the Attorney General's role in firing Director Comey in light of his recusal from the Russian Federation investigation".
Trump didn't answer a question Friday about whether he had recorded his conversations with Comey.
And, after reports that Kasowitz and Defense Secretary James Mattis allowed Trump to watch only 45 minutes of Comey's Senate appearance and kept him away from social media, Trump was apparently back watching cable news.
