Offensively Boston as a unit had 15 hits against the Philadelphia Phillies with both Andrew Benintendi and Hanley Ramirez hitting home runs. But Kendrick stole second before Joseph singled home two runs. Porcello gave up a solo homer to Didi Gregorius in the third and a three-run homer to Chris Carter as part of a four-run fourth.
The team had an opportunity to take the lead in the 10th.

In the 10th and 11th innings Farrell called upon Matt Barnes to work 2 innings in relief and the righty worked around 3 hits in his outing and struck out 5 of the 6 batters he got out. On the other side, the over is 4-1 in Porcello's last five home starts versus an opponent with a losing record.
Maikel Franco served as the team's DH, going 2-4 with a double and a walk.
Jerad Eickhoff hasn't had a lot of luck this season, but tonight's performance was just inexcusable. Sooner or later, he's got to be able to go out and put together a good start. He bounced back well enough afterwards that the Red Sox let him start the seventh, but he was charged with an unearned run then after being replaced by Blaine Boyer.
Eickhoff hasn't pitched more than six innings since his second start of the season. It's fair to wonder how viable of a prospect he is at this point.
