One of President Trump's lawyers on Sunday would not rule out that the special counsel overseeing the Russian Federation criminal investigation could get fired. This morning, he appeared on ABC's This Week to speak as a member of President Trump's legal team about the James Comey testimony.

(PJMedia) Jay Sekulow, the Chief Counsel for the American Center for Law and Justice, said Friday that former Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey admitted under oath that he committed a crime when he testified before the Senate Thursday.

He added, 'I'm not going to speculate on what he will or will not do'.

A former prosecutor, Mueller stepped into the role as President George W. Bush's FBI Director just days after the September 11, 2001 attacks.

"If Mueller does depose Trump, the questions should not only include what he and former FBI Director James Comey talked about during their meetings", the senator said, as there are also questions about conversations with Director of National Intelligence Dan Coates, National Security Agency Director Mike Rogers, and Trump's relationship with former campaign chairman Paul Manafort, among other issues.

Trump's team has used this admission to try and color Comey and suggest he's an unreliable witness, even though he testified under oath.

He also disagreed with Republicans calling for the investigation to be wrapped up as soon as possible, as Mueller will need to look at all the different aspects of the probe.

Trump tweeted about the existence of recordings of his conversations with Comey, but the White House hasn't given a real answer on whether or not they exist. Donald Jr., however, clarified it could not have been a direct request but more like the president said he hoped something will happen which is Comey's job to do. 'That's a decision that the president will make in consultation with his chief lawyer Marc Kasowitz, and that the president said he'll address it next week'. Chuck Schumer, the Senate Minority leader, called on Trump on Sunday to give his testimony on the #Russian investigation. He has made the statement of what he would do as far as testimony if that's necessary, ' Sekulow said.

"But right now the role of the president is to govern the United States of America", Sekulow continued.
