During more than two hours of testimony, Comey told the Senate Intelligence Committee he believed Trump had directed him in February to drop an FBI probe into the Republican president's former national security adviser Michael Flynn as part of the broader Russian Federation investigation.

Hours after accusing former FBI Director James Comey of committing perjury, a defiant President Donald Trump said he was willing to testify under oath about their conversations.

"I'll tell you something about that maybe sometime in the very near future", Trump said, adding "I'll tell you about it over a short period of time".

During his testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee on Thursday, Comey testified that Trump asked him for his loyalty and asked him to end the Flynn probe.

"I didn't say that", Mr Trump said of the request regarding the former national security adviser, Michael Flynn, "And there'd be nothing wrong if I did say it".

"That was an excuse by the Democrats who lost an election that some people think they shouldn't have lost", Trump said of the investigation.

Here's one: Is President Trump alleged to have done anything illegal or is this investigation just war, by any means necessary, against someone who has put a lot of swamp creatures out of power and out of work?

"I didn't say that", Trump said emphatically Friday. "I hope you can let this go", Mr Comey reported the President as saying in a February 14 meeting.

Merkel Ready for Brexit Talks with Britain
German Chancellor Angela Merkel has expressed willingness to join Brexit talks, scheduled to begin on 19th of this month. The German chancellor said she believed Britain would stick to the timetable, adding the European Union was "ready".

Mr Trump wouldn't rule out a previous claim that there may be tapes of his conversations with Comey.

Trump also seized on Comey's revelation that he had directed a friend to release memos he'd written documenting his conversations with the president to a reporter.

President Trump denied asking Mr Comey for his loyalty: "I hardly know the man".

US President Donald Trump says he is "100%" willing to speak under oath about his conversations with ex-FBI chief James Comey.

Celebrated criminal defense lawyer Alan Dershowitz has argued in a lengthy Twitter commentary that Trump was at worst guilty of "political sins"; he said there is "no plausible case" for obstruction charges. "Our judgment, as I recall, was that he was very close and inevitably going to recuse himself for a variety of reasons", Comey said during his questioning. Still, he maintained he had never asked Comey for a pledge of allegiance. "I am also deeply concerned about the Attorney General's role in firing Director Comey in light of his recusal from the Russian Federation investigation".

The Senate committee sent a request for Comey's memos from the Federal Bureau of Investigation on and a separate request to the White House for any records kept by Trump, on May 17. Asked if he would make that denial under oath, he said, "100%".

What Comey did allege was that Trump defamed and pressured him during a series of meetings to nix the Flynn investigation.

During nearly three hours of statements Thursday before the Senate Intelligence Committee, Comey described himself as "stunned" by Trump's "very disturbing" and "very concerning" behavior in several of their meetings.
