John McCainJohn McCainTwitter reacts to McCain's Comey questions Dingell takes veiled swipe at McCain after Comey hearing Putin: "I like Senator McCain" MORE (R-Ariz.) on Thursday, after the senior Arizona senator peppered FBI Director James Comey with a rambling line of questions during a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing. During that meeting, according to a memo Comey said he made that evening, Trump tells him he hopes "you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go".

"We have not announced and there was no predication to announce an investigation into whether the Russians may have coordinated with Secretary Clinton's campaign", Comey clarified.

Later in the day, McCain addressed his the questions he posed to Comey during the open testimony. "But in her case, you say there will be no charges, and in the case of President Trump.the investigation continues". But you did reach a conclusion in that case that it was not necessary to further pursue her.

McCain said that he still had a lot of questions about the matter, and suggested at one point that Clinton had been investigated in involvement with the Russian interference, rather than her server.

'I get the sense from Twitter that my line of questioning today went over people's heads, ' McCain said in a statement after the Senate Intelligence Committee hearing. Many people who watched the exchange or read the transcript were confused too.

State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert said the US expressed condolences to the victims and their families. IS militants are fighting Iranian-backed forces in Syria and Iraq, and they view Shiites as apostates.

That's made all the more odd by the fact that, since Election Day (and even going back to the 2016 campaign), McCain has been one of the Senate Republicans most critical of Trump and his administration. November 6, 2016 Comey announces that the emails have been reviewed and that while there are a few that had not been seen before, the decision not to prosecute Clinton stands.

McCain says he wants Comey to answer whether or not Trump's interactions with Comey constitute obstruction of justice.

Comey, who at one point told McCain he was confused by the questioning, explained that the FBI had not yet reached a conclusion in its Russian Federation investigation, but that the Clinton probe had been completed for almost a year.

It takes a bit of collective amnesia to honestly discuss President Donald Trump's alleged attempts to manipulate the American justice system without acknowledging just how closely the Obama Justice Department worked with the Clinton presidential campaign. "I don't quite understand how you could be done with that but not done with the whole investigation to affect the outcome of our election". 'My judgment was I need to get that out into the public square, ' Comey said.

It wasn't a bad day either for the tweeter-in-chief as Comey confirmed that Trump wasn't under the Federal Bureau of Investigation scanner and "in theory" the President could commit no crime in doing what he was accused of.
