Lynda Carter Gives Gal Gadot Her Blessing for 'Wonder Woman' Role

Wonder Woman has received good reviews overseas, with many critics saying it's the best of DC Comics' previous live-action movies.

For the record, Lebanon has had an argumentative relationship with the Israelis for decades and has an agreement that the country will be boycotting products from its neighbouring country in the South.

As the first contemporary Hollywood superhero movie with a female protagonist, the film has understandably received plenty of attention since it was first announced. Ava DuVernay, a vocal critic of the lack of both gender and racial diversity in Hollywood, is the first black woman to helm a $100 million movie with Walt Disney Co.'s "A Wrinkle in Time", due out next year, according to the Los Angeles Times. If this woman were running for any office at all, she would have my vote, writes Kurt Loder. It's the first DC Comics attempt at a superhero film starring a woman since 2004's Catwoman, and that was an iconic flop. The new movie explores her origins, but we've already seen her help Batman and Superman save the world (in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice). As expected, Warner Bros. wouldn't comment. The success of the film rests squarely on the compassionate and complex characterizationof Diana, who spends the film struggling to understand conflicting humans she feels compelled to protect. I think we can all agree the trailers look unbelievable, but how does the actual movie shape up?

While fans can be tough critics, Gadot was more concerned about a different audience: her daughter.

With the movie playing on over 4,000 screens, it definitely seems Warner Bros.is going for the gold.

Though women have played supporting roles in big superhero movies - notably Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow in the "Avengers" films - studios have been criticized for not giving them their own pictures. Gadot's interviews are an enlightening look at her character, and it's clear that she believes Diana is the complex, powerful hero that women have been waiting for.

The star behind Wonder Woman embodies the ideals of the character. A final battle sequence falls victim to the dreaded CGI sludge, but Jenkins maintains a steady hand on the story and character, so that each emotional journey remains engaging throughout all the digital fire and brimstone.
