London Mayor Sadiq Khan lays floral tributes for the victims of the London Bridge attack, during a vigil at Potters Field Park, London June 5, 2017.
"Londoners will see an increased police presence today and over the course of the next few days".
Mayor Sadiq Khan, who made history as the British capital's first Muslim leader, has repeatedly been targeted by Trump on Twitter.
Khan is among those who have asked the government to reconsider the invitation, describing the state visit as "inappropriate" given the president's months-long push for a travel ban for passengers from several Muslim majority nations.
Trump's tweet renewed his mischaracterization of Khan's statement to London residents following the attack that left seven people dead and dozens injured. Trump, on the other hand, was not welcomed by the Londoners; they are opposing his planned visit for his constant skits targeting Khan.
The three attackers, Khuram Butt, Rachid Redouane and Youssef Zaghba, were then killed by police.
Gun Bills Getting Rid Of Permits, Pass State House
Northern Michigan Republican Lee Chatfield says the legislation will make communities safer. House Bill 746 will face a third reading in the House before heading to the Senate.
The mayor of London says he doesn't care about the repeated insults he has received from the president of the United States, asserting Tuesday that he "really couldn't be bothered about what Donald Trump tweets".
No date has been set for the visit, which was agreed during May's visit to Washington in January and seen as a sign of her desire to maintain good ties with Britain's traditional close ally as Trump began his presidency.
Asked if Trump was wrong to make the comments, British Prime Minister Theresa May said at a news conference Monday that "Sadiq Khan is doing a good job and it's wrong to say anything else - he's doing a good job". Trump, meanwhile, said that "it is his ignorance to say that" and has raised questions about the approach of London's to confronting terrorism.
Khan said in a statement after the attack Saturday that there was "no reason to be alarmed". There's no reason to be alarmed. "Honestly I've got better and more important things to focus on". "One of the things police and all of us need to do is make sure we're as safe as we possibly can be". MSM is working hard to sell it!
There are a lot of people out there who don't think Donald Trump should be allowed to visit Britain.
"I don't think we should roll out the red carpet to the president of the United States of America in the circumstances where his policies go against everything we stand for", Mr Khan told Channel 4 News, reiterating a position he held before the president's most recent tweets.
