Another tornado flattened much of a subdivision on the southern fringe of Elk City, Oklahoma, about 110 miles (180 kilometers) west of Oklahoma City.
The severe storm that hit the Chetek area started to develop about two hours earlier in the St. Paul area, according to meterologist Mike Griesinger of the National Weather Service in Chanhassen, Minn.
Elk City, Oklahoma also took a direct hit.
Authorities say at least one person died and an estimated 25 others were injured when a tornado struck a trailer park near Chetek in western Wisconsin. In 2011, when devastating tornadoes struck in Joplin, Missouri, and in Alabama and MS, 111 of the 551 people killed nationwide in tornadoes, or 20 percent, were in mobile homes, according to the Storm Prediction Center website. He told the Eau Claire newspaper the Prairie Lakes Estates trailer park is a mess and they were still searching Tuesday night.
A mobile home is a particularly risky place to be during a tornado, according to the National Weather Service. It was not immediately known if there were injuries.
"This was a super cell that developed, a discreet storm", he said Tuesday night.

The storms hit late in the afternoon Tuesday and into the evening, leveling the Prairie Lake Estate Mobile Park near Chetek, Wisconsin. He estimates the park had around 50 homes.
The severe weather also caused extensive damage to several turkey barns across from the mobile home park.
National Weather Service meteorologists say preliminary indications show eight tornadoes touched down in western Oklahoma on Tuesday, killing 53-year-old Bo Mikles as he apparently was fleeing his home when his vehicle was thrown several hundred feet.
