The election panel's response was that the machine was not the one being used by them.

AAP suggested that all the political parties, technical experts and students of institutes like Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) should be called in hackathon to prove that EVMs can be hacked. "Let us see what is the outcome of this meeting", he added. "They must give access to EVMs to techies to prove their point".

"So far there have been 37 cases in various courts regarding EVM tampering".

All the seven national and 35 of the 48 state recognised political parties are attending the meeting. Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi said parties will also get a chance to "demonstrate that EVMs used in the recent Assembly elections were tampered with". Yesterday, AAP MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj had provided a live demo in the Delhi assembly to show that EVMs can be easily hacked.

The EC rejected AAP's EVM tampering claim, saying the "look-alike" gadget demonstrated in the assembly was not its machine.

He, however, did not give any date for the proposed challenge which he announced in his opening remarks at the meeting.

Opposition parties including the Congress and the TMC were present during the demonstration in the gallery of the assembly. The Bhartiya Janata Party won 312 seats out of 403 in Uttar Pradesh Election.

The Election Commission, however, assured all political parties that EVMs were secured and could not be tampered with.

The official also questioned the way in which AAP staged a demonstration in the assembly just a day ahead of the meet.
