- French President-elect Emmanuel Macron's political movement - La Republique en Marche (Republic on the Move) - revealed on Thursday a list of hundreds of candidates ahead of a crucial general election. The mathematician is known for his dandy-ish looks, long hair and collection of floppy bow ties.
Winning the most seats in Parliament will be no mean feat for En Marche!, which is less than a year old and is scrambling to finalize its list of candidates to contest all 577 seats. The initials of his new party, LRM, equal those of the neo-Gaullist Les Républicains, plus an "M" for "Macron". Split 50-50 between men and women, as Macron promised, the 14 included Jean-Michel Fauvergue, who the elite RAID unit during the 2015 siege in which Abdelhamid Abaaoud, a ring leader of the Paris attacks a few days earlier, was killed.
The former prime minister Manuel Valls, who was Mr Macron's boss for two years, was among those rejected.
Referring to the mid-June election of lower house of parliament representatives, which will be key both to Macron's capacity to enact his reforms and to the future of the FN, Monot said: "The parliamentary elections will take place first, and then we will meet to discuss this (the euro policy)".
Macron won a landslide victory last Sunday against his far-right rival Marine Le Pen, with more than 66% of the vote.
Socialist President Francois Hollande is due to formally hand over power on Sunday to Mr Macron at an Elysee Palace ceremony.
"This is a very good thing that Macron has been elected, I am very happy because I was afraid that an anti-Europe and fascist party would lead the country".
"We want to build a majority for change and therefore obtain for Republic on the Move an absolute majority in the National Assembly", Ferrand said, adding that they had combed through more than 19,000 applications. The movement already announced 14 candidates.

Amid feverish speculation in the French media - will he pick a loyal supporter or someone from the right-wing Republicans? - nothing has leaked from his small group of aides.
