Merkel Says Wants Close Cooperation With France's Macron

French President-elect Emmanuel Macron.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel will host Emmanuel Macron for talks in Berlin on Monday, on his first trip overseas as French president.

This will also mark his first visit foreign visit since his victory in the presidential elections on Sunday.

"There is a wish to work together on several priorities: security, economy and investments as well as (social) protection".

Macron will visit French troops overseas "very quickly" after the Berlin meeting.

The win by the pro-European and pro-trade Macron aginst far-right candidate Marine Len Pen in France's rancorous presidential election campaign was greeted with relief in Germany, which sees the European Union as a key pillar of its world view and national economy.

The current share price indicates that stock is -55.01% away from its one year high and is moving 14.95% ahead of its 52-week low. Municipal Employees Retirement System of MI raised its position in shares of Sturm Ruger & Company by 1.4% in the third quarter.

The detailed agenda of the meeting was not disclosed.

Schaeuble said he agrees with Macron that Europe's currency area requires financial transfers, though the scope of such rebalancing would require national approval, according to an interview with Der Spiegel magazine published Friday.

"A eurozone parliament could be set up, made up of European parliamentarians, which would have consultative powers" for moving forward the European Stability Mechanism (ESM), Schaeuble said.

Ferrand, the secretary-general of the ruling party "Republic on the move", told the news channel BFMTV that the prime minister will be named on Monday, but he did not give any details on the would-be chief of Macron's executive staff. Merkel said: "I don't see us in the front row, and I don't have any concrete plans" as far as increasing that number is concerned.

Speculation surrounds a half-dozen names, some fairly well-known, others less so.
