If Hillary Clinton had won the election, which thank God she didn't, but if she had... she would have fired Comey immediately.

Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) called Trump's decision to fire Comey "an attack on the rule of law" and said that "Firing the FBI Director does not place the White House, the President, or his campaign above the law".

Trump on Tuesday fired Comey, sparking outrage from both Republicans and Democrats.

But you'll notice the second bullet point on that list says, "After watching Director Comey's testimony last Wednesday, the President was strongly inclined to remove him".

And he added - in reference to the ongoing FBI investigation into possible collusion between Russian Federation and the pre-election Trump presidential campaign under then Director Comey - that "thus far there is no indication of any evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation".

Shepard Smith asked Van Hollen whether he knows of any evidence of collusion between the Trump team and Russian Federation.

"When [Rosenstein] saw that, he had to speak up", Sanders told the White House press briefing room on Wednesday.

In a flurry of Twitter posts earlier, Mr Trump offered a further explanation and lambasted his critics. Last week, the tweeter-in-chief claimed that former Director Comey's action gave Clinton a "free pass" even though President Trump praised Comey's handling of the matter in October 2016.

North Korea's military weakness exposed
The missile flew only "for several minutes" to the northeast, reaching an altitude of 44 miles, the South Korean military said. The USS Michigan, which is a guided missile submarine, arrived in the port city of Busan, South Korea , earlier this week.

The Democrats expressed deep skepticism about the reasons for Tuesday's firing, raising the prospect of a White House effort to stymie the FBI and congressional investigations.

The White House said the president urged Mr Lavrov to "rein in" the Assad regime in Syria during their meeting.

But her point is that Democrats didn't think Comey was doing a great job; and once again, we honestly don't know if she's acting dense on goal.

"He wasn't doing a good job, very simply, he was not doing a good job", Trump said.

McConnell went on to say, "Our Democratic colleagues complaining about the removal of an Federal Bureau of Investigation director whom they themselves repeatedly and sharply criticized".

Trump made no mention of Comey's role in the Clinton investigation, which she has blamed in part for the election result.

"The president can't fire the United States Senate, and so we have an obligation here to get to the bottom of this", Klobuchar said.

"I have now made a decision to recuse myself from any existing or future investigations of any matter relating in any way to the campaigns for President of the United States", Sessions said back in March.
