His statement came after 10 Iranian border guards were killed last month in an attack which according to Iran, the militant group Jaish-al-Adl carried out from inside Pakistan.
Iran's state news agency IRNA yesterday quoted Major General Mohammed Baqeri as saying that "unless Pakistan control (s) the borders, arrest (s) the terrorist and shut (s) down their bases...we will hit their safe havens and cells wherever they are". Tehran has alleged that members of the extremist Jaish-ul-Adl killed the guards by using long-range guns from within Pakistan.
Officials said the two governments also agreed "in principle to revive a hotline" between their border security forces to resolve any issues at the frontier.
"Unfortunately, Iran's eastern border regions with Pakistan have become a safe haven for training and equipping terrorists recruited by Saudi Arabia and supported by the United States". The assailants escaped into Pakistani territory immediately after the attack.
Killings of eight Iranian border guards in April 2015 and 14 in October 2013, have previously been claimed by the group.

Analysts believe that tensions between the two countries could have also increased due to Iran's sponsoring of Shia militant groups from Pakistan.
After the incident, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani extended his condolences over the death of the Iranian border guards, urging rapid steps to identify and punish the perpetrators.
In an interview with Radio Pakistan's current affairs channel, he said Iran is our neighbor and Pakistan is desirous of having peaceful ties with Iran as per its vision of peaceful neighborhood. The population of the province is predominantly Sunni Muslim, while the majority of Iranians are Shias.
