There will be a bigger focus on "Australian values" under the changes that the Federal Government has announced for the Australian Citizenship test. Apart from this, an automatic fail for applicants who cheat during the citizenship test has been introduced.
According to the Daily Telegraph more than 130,000 people from across 210 countries become Australian citizens each year.

The current citizenship multiple-choice questionnaire tests a person's knowledge of Australian laws, national symbols and colours of the Aboriginal flag. It is the foundation of our democracy.
Applicants will also have to prove what steps those permanent residents have taken to contribute to the community, including evidence of employment and schooling.
Any conduct inconsistent with Australian values will be considered as part of the citizenship process.
Those with a history of family violence or organised crime could also be barred from citizenship.

When asked what these "Australian values" were, the prime minister could really only put it down to "mutual respect". Then the proposals must be approved in Parliament.
On Tuesday, the government said it would replace a controversial visa scheme to make it harder for foreign nationals to work in Australia.
Australia also moved this week to tighten visa rules.
