Ivanka Trump denied Wednesday that German Chancellor Angela Merkel is using her friendly relationship with her as a conduit to her father, President Donald Trump.

The famous blonde appeared alongside Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel when she joined the panel of women at the worldwide W20 summit.

Trump was discussing the lack of paid leave policies for women in the United States, and she said she was "very proud of" her father's advocacy for paid leave, calling Mr. Trump a tremendous champion of supporting families.

"The panel moderator, a finance journalist, interjected, saying "some attitudes toward women your father has publicly displayed. might leave one questioning whether he is such an empowerer for women".

Ivanka Trump's comments on Syrian refugees will raise new questions about the implications of her disagreements with USA policy, especially now that she is a government employee and an official adviser to her father.

President Trump has made headlines for his sexist attitudes towards women, including comments caught on tape where he spoke about "grabbing them by the p*ssy".

When asked how she accounts for her father's behavior, Ivanka said she "heard the criticism from the media and that has been perpetuated", but said that's not the Donald Trump she knows, and to just ask the "thousands" of women who have worked for him.

Ivanka Trump was participating in a panel discussion on women's empowerment and entrepreneurship at the W-20, a summit of G-20 countries aimed at promoting women's workforce participation and equality.

Still, any involvement in the fund could prompt questions about potential conflicts of interest for the first daughter, who has stepped away from executive roles with her fashion brand and the Trump Organization to take an unpaid role in her father's administration, though she still owns her business.

"I'm listening, I'm learning, I'm defining the ways in which I think that I'll be able to have impact" in empowering women in the USA economy and beyond.

"Certainly not the latter", Ivanka Trump said. The chancellor, who presides over Europe's biggest economy, is among foreign leaders reaching out to President Donald Trump's oldest daughter to try to moderate his views on matters such as global trade and defense spending.

The first daughter added: "He encouraged me and enabled me to thrive". Both the Frankfurter Allgemeine and Suddeutsche Zeitung newspapers called the first daughter her father's "ambassador" to Germany.

"I do label myself a feminist, and I do think of that in broad terms", she said later.
