Trump's Approval Rating Hits 41 Percent In Latest CBS Poll

Only 42 percent of registered North Carolina voters polled approve of the job Trump is doing in Washington, according to an Elon University Poll released today.

The Elon Poll found 56 percent of North Carolina voters think Trump has been true to his pledges, even while almost 60 percent disagree with one of them - the plan to build a wall along the Mexican border.

The difference along the lines of candidate affiliation was similarly striking when it came to claims that the Obama administration had surveilled the Trump campaign. A majority of leaned Republicans (55 percent) think former President Barack Obama spied on President Trump during the election.

Voters are split as to whether Trump is keeping his campaign promises, with 46 percent saying the president is maintaining his promises and 44 percent saying he is not living up to them. When it comes to confidence in Congress's ability to conduct a fair investigation into the issue of Russia's alleged election meddling, everyone has doubts.

Trump has claimed, without evidence, that his predecessor wiretapped Trump tower in order to spy on Trump and his aides during the campaign. The poll results have a margin of error of plus or minus 4.4 percentage points.

Even 29 percent of Democrats, who may disagree with Trump's agenda, believe he's holding true to his campaign promises.
