As if driving the 10,000 mile Mongol Rally in a regular petrol/diesel auto isn't hard enough, one bright spark is set to undertake the adventure in Nissan's top selling electric vehicle this Summer.
It has been customised with Speedline SL2 Marmora wheels and Maxsport RB3 narrow tyres. The Leaf is based on a standard 30-kWh Nissan Leaf Acenta, which offers up to 155 miles (250 km) of all-electric range on a single charge, but key modifications have been made so that the vehicle can compete once it reaches the more remote parts of the journey. Also quite handy is a Lazer Triple-R 16-LED light bar on the roof, which provides an extra 16,400 lumens of low-voltage light, to give the Leaf AT-EV some proper visibility when driving at night. For safety, a fire extinguisher and medical kit have been added to the trunk space. Using a Nissan Leaf for this was an obvious decision.
The rear seats have been removed, so the vehicle is 32kg lighter than a consumer model, but as the Mongol Rally isn't a timed race, the driver and passenger positions remain relatively unchanged for comfort sakes. Modifications were done by United Kingdom -based RML Group, a high-performance engineering company.
Off-road rally cars might be one of the last auto segments that electric vehicles will take over, but it's not from a lack of trying. "Nissan is also played a leading role in growing the number of DC fast-charging stations in the USA, with more than 2,100 CHAdeMO connections to date, which helps all EV drivers regardless of make or model".
AGNC Investment Corp's (AGNC) Hold Rating Reiterated at Keefe, Bruyette & Woods
Elkfork Partners LLC acquired a new stake in AGNC Investment Corp during the fourth quarter worth approximately $129,000. The stock now shows its YTD (Year to Date) performance of 13.99 percent while its Weekly performance value is -0.54%.
"Not at all. This journey is all about the experience, not reaching the destination in a fast time. I'm very familiar with the auto, it's always been reliable and dependable for me, and it has the largest network of rapid charging options in Europe". It also accepts 240v Commando connections, so can be charged when no charging station is available. The auto was created by "electric vehicle advocate" Plug In Adventures.
For the Mongol Rally Chris plans to make regular stops along the way to promote the benefits of running an all-electric vehicle to residents of the countries he's passing through. Taking in mountains, deserts and steppes, it is one of a number of event organised by The Adventurists, an outfit of people who say they are dedicated to making the world less boring and have raised £5million for charity to date.
The Leaf is clearly not the first auto to come to mind when thinking about a rally vehicle, but electric vehicle advocate Plug In Adventures have modified a Leaf to enter the Mongol Rally and drive 10,000 miles (16,000 km) from the United Kingdom to Mongolia in summer 2017. "We applaud this ambitious driving challenge and wish them a safe and enjoyable journey".
