India and Australia signed agreements Monday on cooperating to combat worldwide terrorism and transnational organized crime, as well as working together in areas such as the environment, climate, wildlife and civil aviation security. Prime Minister O'Neil said they will be assisting mostly in providing logistics support and also act as worldwide observers during the election.
Emphasising on peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region, Prime Minister Modi said challenges like terrorism and cyber security require global strategy and solutions.
While the prime ministers agreed to reignite stalled talks on a formal trade deal, Mr Turnbull said it was encouraging partnerships were growing.
Two-way trade between India and Australia totalled $19.4bn in 2015-16, with major Australian exports to the country including coal, education-related travel, vegetables and gold.
The pact has been in negotiations for six years, but has been held up over disagreement on issues, including market access for Australian agricultural products and greater access for Indian professionals who want to work in Australia.
