Prince William admired Lady Gaga's "openness" in her letter and asked her to lend her hand to the Heads Together campaign.

William gets more personal in his conversation with Burke and refers to his own grief following Diana's tragic death.

When the Duke asked if she'd like to "get our heads together about how much more we can do to tackle this" while she's over in the United Kingdom touring later this year, Gaga responded enthusiastically.

In their Skype conversation, William and Gaga commended each other's work so far on the issue and made clear their passion about continuing to end the stigma.

The Duke of Cambridge on Monday praised the high-profile public figures who are speaking openly about their mental health, as he warned that no one should try to keep a stiff upper lip at the expense of their welfare. "It's so important to break open that fear and that taboo, that is only going to lead to more problems down the line".

The release of the video comes just days after Prince Harry revealed that he sought counseling four years ago to deal with the grief of losing his mother, Princess Diana.

Prince William and Lady Gaga FaceTimed to promote mental health awareness on Tuesday, April 18.

'We have to make the strongest, most relentless attempt we can to normalise mental health issues so that people feel like they can come forward'. And for me personally, my brother, you know, bless him, he was a huge support to me.

The Duke said he and the Duchess of Cambridge wanted their children, George and Charlotte, to grow up "feeling able to talk about their emotions and feelings". And that's what we need to do. "So from an emotional side, I was like 'right, don't ever let your emotions be part of anything'".

Lady Gaga announced that she was nervous about speaking out originally because of the "shame attached to mental illness", until she realized it was simply a part of daily life for some people, something that was meant to be discussed and dealt with.

Harry may not have revealed details of his personal struggles before the interview, but he's made mental health a key initiative for nearly a year.
