Memphis now trails San Antonio in the series, 2-0. Fizdale said at his postgame press conference. Gasol is also fourth in franchise history for points scored (8,966), holding the franchise record until he was passed by Mike Conley (and later Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph) earlier this season.

The two teams meet for Game 3 on Thursday in Memphis at 9:30 p.m. ET. The Spurs had a 26-point lead, which went down to just four in the fourth quarter, but Leonard made sure that San Antonio will get the victory.

San Antonio had a better start than in Game 1. Granted, the Grizzlies foul a lot, and the Spurs shooting 32 free throws (and making 31 of them) is not overly surprising.

The Grizzlies made the big change at halftime that turned the game around for them. Leonard had 37 points, 11 rebounds and two assists while going 19-for-19 from the free throw line in the 96-82 win. Cleveland is 12-0 when starting 2-0 in the postseason.

I didn't expect San Antonio to do what it did in Game 1 given their struggles down the stretch, but clearly the Spurs popped into playoff mode. I'm not a numbers guy, but that doesn't seem to add up.

"It was a very poorly officiated basketball game", Fizdale fumed.

"Kawhi shot more free throws than our whole team, explain it to me", Fizdale said.

"That's unacceptable. That was unprofessional".

San Antonio Spurs Lineup: PG - Tony Parker, SG - Danny Green, SF - Kawhi Leonard, PF - LaMarcus Aldridge, C - Dewayne Dedmon.

After the defeat, Grizzlies coach David Fizdale blasted the officials of Monday night's game - claiming they never gave his team a chance.

"I know Pop's [Spurs coach Gregg Popovich] got pedigree and I'm a young rookie, but they're not going to rook us". (Free-throw rate is a team's free-throw attempts divided by its field-goal attempts.) Memphis had a free-throw rate of.280 (pretty good, 11th in the league) and an opponent free-throw rate of.341 (worst in the league) for a league-worst difference of -.061. "Honestly, I don't understand it", he said. "You put it behind you; you prepare from the film; you make the adjustments and try to win Game 2". The San Antonio Spurs are shooting 45.2 percent from beyond the arc and 87.7 percent from the free throw line. I expect an aggressive Conley who looks to attack and set up his teammates while deciding to take over late in the game.
