Lovely day for egg hunt

What better way than to celebrate Easter than with the animals and friends at the zoo?

On Saturday afternoon Salem Baptist Church held an Easter Egg Hunt at the park.

Co-sponsors of the event are Prevention Links, New Birth Grand Lodge of NJ and the Union County Parks and Recreation Dept. The final Easter egg hunt kicked off at 3:10 p.m., when those 11 years old and older rushed toward the eggs which had been set out for them.

"I think they were after that golden egg that's out there", said Samuel, who also had three other grandchildren participating in the egg hunt.

Attendees are asked to bring their own eating utensils and beverages as well as a dish to share. With a huge turnout and more activities than ever, Avery's annual Easter egg hunt continues to be a great local option for families in Newland and beyond to spend part of their Easter weekend. Parking is limited, so carpool, walk, bike, or golf cart it to the Planet if possible.

After cornhole took place, the egg relays and egg toss events begain, both classic staples of any worthwhile Easter celebration.

"We'll probably have burgers and hot dogs and hide eggs for a lot of kids".

On a damp afternoon, the baseball/softball fields were filled with hundreds of families and children ready to hop to an early Easter by egg hunting on the fields.

Kids 4-7 and 8-10 must go off on their own. But what exactly does Easter eggs have to do with Resurrection Sunday?

She brought her son Luka, 2, and infant daughter Adria to hunt for eggs Saturday at the Joseph Schneider Haus museum. She said she was excited to invite the community to the uptown district for the event.

"I love just seeing the little kids, they're always so happy when they find the eggs", Williams said.
