108 militants killed in Pakistan's anti-terror operation launched in February

Pakistan military spokesman Major General Asif Ghafoor on Monday said Ehsanullah Ehsan, the spokesman for the Jamaat-ul-Ahrar faction of the Pakistani Taliban, had surrendered to security personnel.

Ehsanullah Ehsan was a spokesman for the Pakistani Taliban until 2013.

The director general said that the Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad is commitment to eliminate terrorism from the Country.

Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad was launched on February 22, he said, adding that armed forces have conducted 15 major operations so far. The operations had netted over 5,000 suspects and 1,859 unregistered Afghan nationals, he added. He said the army along with FC would build 338 check posts by 2019 to strengthen border with Afghanistan, besides fencing it along Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Fata. "The case of Naureen Leghari should serve as a lesson for parents who should keep an eye on activities of their children", ISPR DG said.

He said nature of operation in Karachi was different and dispelled the impression that operation had been slowed down in the provincial capital of Sindh. He said the girl was recovered during an operation initiated as per direction of the army chief, adding that Noreen had not gone to Syria.
