Steve Stephens, 37, was spotted by Pennsylvania State Police officers in Erie County Tuesday morning and Stephens killed himself as he was being pursued.
Stephens, who has no prior criminal record, is not suspected in any other murders, despite a claim he made in the video of having killed more than a dozen other people, police said.
Authorities on the hunt for a suspect who they say fatally shot an elderly Cleveland man in a gruesome video posted on Facebook say his last known location was at the shooting site.
Authorities warned residents in Indiana, Michigan, New York, Ohio and Pennsylvania to be "on alert".
Tammy Godwin told Lemon, "I just want people to know that [my father] was a good man".
Four people have been accused of using Facebook Live to post the alleged beating of an 18-year-old disabled man in Chicago in January. He was driving a white Ford Fusion with temporary license plates, Cleveland police said.
Stephens said he was killing people because of Lane.
Facebook said the suspect did go live on the social media website at one point during the day, but not during the killing. Authorities say police tried to pull him over and, after a brief chase, he killed himself.
The problems have been compounded by the issue of fake news - false stories across the social network that some Facebook users have taken as true and that may have swayed thinking in events such as elections.

Jimmy Fallon returned to his old stomping ground of SNL last night and took part in the weekly Donald Trump Cold Open sketch . McCarthy's Spicer delivered a belligerent apology from a podium, but also berated the press for inflating the incident.
According to the USA network CBS, Ms Lane confirmed: "We had been in a relationship for several years".
Godwin's children say the reason they are able to forgive Stephens is due to their father, who took them to church every Sunday, and always stressed the importance of forgiveness.
On Easter Sunday, a 34-year-old man named Steve Stephens drove around downtown Cleveland on what he called a mission to commit murder.
"We prioritise reports with serious safety implications for our community, and are working on making that review process go even faster", Osofsky said.
"He said this is the last time I was going to see him", recalled Green, 53.
Minutes later, in another call, a man said: "Somebody's right in front of my house that's dead, been shot".
Stephens had worked since 2008 as a vocational specialist and youth mentor at Beech Brook, a behavioral health agency located in a Cleveland suburb. The FBI has also increased their reward to $50,000 for information leading to his arrest.
Police did not verify any other shootings or deaths.
She also said Stephens was "a nice guy" who was generous to everyone and was "kind and loving" to her and her children.
