Eight coaches of Rajya Rani Exp derail near Rampur, two injured

Eight coaches of Lucknow bound Rajyarani Express were derailed near a bridge over Kosi River in Rampur district this morning.

Top railways officials, including Moradabad DRM Pramod Kumar, have reached the spot and medical teams have been pressed into action, Sharma said.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Adityanath has announced compensation of Rs.50,000 each for seriously injured and Rs.25,000 each to injured in the train accident. "Strict action will be taken against any lapse", he said.

The injured persons were rushed to a nearby hospital.

A few passenger trains may be cancelled and long route trains may be diverted through the Chandausi junction. The Northern Railways have already arranged for a rescue train.
