The UN has asked India and Pakistan to engage in a dialogue to find a peaceful solution to their problems, but refrained from commenting on the death sentence given by a Pakistani military court to Indian national Kulbhushan Jadhav.

The Kulbhushan Jadhav case is a complex web of global espionage, with Pakistan claiming he was acting on behalf of India's primary foreign intelligence agency in the restive Balochistan province and India repudiating the claims.

"Pakistan High Commissioner was summoned and communicated that his custody is illegal and his trial is not fair".

Jadhav, who was arrested in March previous year by Pakistan and accused by the country of spying, was sentenced to death by a Pakistani military court on Monday triggering tension between India and Pakistan. India is expected to make another request to the Pakistani authorities for consular access to Jadhav, who was arrested from Iran's Chahbahar Port.

External Affairs Minister Sushma on Tuesday had cautioned Pakistan against the consequences its bilateral ties with India would face if it went through with the death penalty.

Peacekeeping missions in Darfur (UNAMID) and South Sudan (UNMISS) also have 2016-2017 budgets of over $1 billion, respectively. In the wake of the report , 114 peacekeepers were sent home.

MEA stated that Indian government had provided all the facts relating to Kulbhushan Jadhav nearly a year ago adding that Pakistan had denied consular access for 13 times. The worldwide norm is consular access, India and Pakistan have a bilateral agreement on consular access. "He was involved in sabotage and terror", Basit told the channel. He also called German ambassador's remark that Jadhav was abducted in Iran and then sold by Taliban to Pakistan as "far-fetched and baseless information"; adding that Jadhav was caught in Balochistan.

About his fake passport and identity, Baglay said, "We can not ascertain anything since we did not have any consular access".

"We have to verify how Kulbhushan Jadhav walked into Pakistan with a valid passport in his pocket".

"Mumbai: People form human chain protesting death sentence given to #KulbhushanJadhav by Pakistan military court, outside Jadhav's residence", tweeted ANI.

In the video, Jadhav had said: "I am still a serving officer in the Indian Navy and will be due for retirement in 2022".
