Here's all the information we have so far.
Meanwhile, India's largest and second largest telecom operator i.e Airtel and Vodafone respectively expressed their disappointment towards Jio for continuing its "Summer Surprise" Plan despite TRAI's advice to take down the offer. For non-Prime members, the consumer will have to pay an additional Rs 99 to avail the same offer for a period of 84 days. The 303 offer has been changed to 309 and the 499 recharge has been modified to 509.
Apart from the Jio website, even on MyJio app, customers are shown the Rs 149 plan as a recharge option. This means the 1GB plan will give users 28GB data in a billing cycle. The smartphone app has a banner ad which reads as: "We are updating our tariff packs and will be soon introducing more exciting offers". Also, there is no information on what will the postpaid subscribers do if they wish to become a Jio Prime member, or has the offer ceased to exist for them?
The new data plan is available on the official website of Reliance Jio. Users can avail a data limit of 2GB per day under this new scheme.
700 jobs under threat as Jaeger falls into administration
The designer brand was founded in 1884 by accountant Lewis Tomalin but analysts said it had struggled to stay relevant. In its last fiscal year, Jaeger saw sales fall to GBP78.4m from GBP84.2m, while it booked a pre-tax loss of GBP5.4m.
Concerning 2GB plan, it will cost you Rs 509 for prime subscription users and Rs. 549 for non-prime members. There is no clarity for postpaid users too. The company has announced the Jio Prime membership for its users last month. Jio accepts this decision.
There is no doubt that withdrawal of "Summer Surprise" offer by Reliance Jio will bring some relief to telcos, as the industry has been in under pressure ever since Jio launched its services. The telco also requested TRAI to issue directions, ordering Jio to immediately withdraw the offers and retract all free benefits starting from the date of the advisory.
Jio was earlier offering 100 GB valid for 3 months on all plan subscription above Rs. 999, but according to this report, the company is expected to withdraw these plans and replace them with unlimited data plans carrying a daily limit of either 1 GB/day or 2 GB/day.
TRAI's order against Jio's "Summer Surprise" and extension on enrolling for Jio Prime was released on April 6 due to non-compliance with the norms.
