The 38-year-old's round was highlighted by a hole-in-one on the par-three 16th hole.

Rose missed a seven-foot putt on the 72 hole and then hit his tee shot on the first playoff hole well right, forcing him to punch out into the fairway. Rose was poised to deliver a knockout on the par-5 13th when Garcia went left beyond the creek and into a bush.

The Spaniard won on what would have been the 60th birthday of compatriot Ballesteros, the 1980 and 1983 victor of the Green Jacket, who died in 2011. So, it did cross my mind, but lately I've been getting some good help. "I kind of came to peace with it [not happening]".
