Prime Minister Justin Trudeau found himself answering for behaviour unbecoming a G7 leader at the close of North Atlantic Treaty Organisation meetings in London this week and the familiar explanation: He experienced it differently.

Ahead of the summit, Johnson - the British host who chose to avoid making any public appearances with Trump given next week's election - appealed for unity, saying the alliance forged in Britain had more to unite it than divide it.

"Last night I made a reference to the fact there was unscheduled press conference before my meeting with president, and I was happy to take part of it, but it was certainly notable", Trudeau told reporters the morning after many had reported the video as mockery of Trump.

Biden and Trump Jr.'s posts follows the president's reaction to the video. "On Wednesday, Trudeau, Macron and Johnson were forced to field questions about the candid conversation and Trump was described as "the scorned child on the global playground" and "a sulking, brooding president".

"Slightly delinquent, I would say Canada, but they'll be okay".

CBC also shared the video where Trump was asked during a joint press conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel about Trudeau's comments and he said, "He's two-faced".

Canadian officials speaking to CNN stressed that despite the viral moment, the meeting was "good and substantive" with discussions about the USMCA and - of particular importance - they say Trump agreed to help Trudeau secure the release of the two Canadians held in China.

The 63-second campaign ad goes on to show news clips of Trump's various meetings with other world leaders, though the entire premise appears to be centred on what was seen in the Trudeau clip: that "The world is laughing at President Trump", Biden wrote in an accompanying tweet. He called Prime Minister Justin Trudeau "two-faced" which set up a joke too easy for Noah to ignore.

The daily Presidential Tracking Poll by the Rasmussen Reports finds that 52% of Likely U.S. Voters approved of President Trump's job performance as of Thursday, up from 49% on Wednesday, and reached the highest level since September 24. Says reference to "jaws dropping" among members of president's team was about unscheduled announcement that United States hosting next G7 at Camp David.

"Is that why you were late?"

The president responded by calling Trudeau "two-faced", in a clear reference to photos that emerged of Trudeau wearing black-face to parties in his 20s. "It's not fair that they get USA protection and they're not putting up their money, and they're - really, I call them - I used that term, "delinquent". "We don't want other leaders and other countries laughing at us anymore, and they won't be", he said.

But asked if the gaffe had given him pause for thought, Trudeau said that ensuring the focus of attention remained on matters of substance 'is something that we're all going to try to do a little harder'.
