Abu Dhabi World champion Lewis Hamilton has cruised to victory from pole position at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix to end a triumphant Formula One season in style.

Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas, who has won four races and taken five pole positions this season, and the 22-year-old Verstappen are also yet to sign contracts beyond 2020.

Leclerc still managed to qualify fourth, ahead of Vettel, but the incident comes hot on the heels of the last race in Brazil where they crashed together, putting both cars out of the race.

"He's good in battling, he's good in racing, so we are very happy with him". "As a team we must perform stronger, and as an individual I can do better".

Hamilton will start Sunday's race as the favourite to close out his world championship year with an 11th victory after putting his Mercedes on pole position.

In the last 10 races in Abu Dhabi, where crossing is hard, the driver only starts behind the first line he won when Kimi Raikkonen triumphed from fourth in 2012. "We all know Mercedes are dominant here, but I think there are a lot of chances in this race".

Toto Wolff believes there's a 25% chance that Lewis Hamilton will leave Mercedes and join Ferrari for the 2021 F1 season.

After wind scare, balloons fly in Macy's Thanksgiving parade
Handlers kept the giant balloons near the ground, making them more manageable in the wind. "It is the people I love", he said. For the past year, he's been excited to play the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade , but he started feeling sick last Friday.

"We knew it was already tight but that was a conscious choice but it was too tight with the traffic we found and we screwed up".

Hamilton was soon on top again in Q2 with a 1:35.634, on mediums, Ferrari staying on softs to take the formative second row behind the two Mercedes and push Verstappen down to fifth.

"I actually sat next to Mattia when he said that, in the press conference, and he was asked the question what he thought about Lewis, and he said he has the highest of esteems about Lewis", Wolff said.

Leclerc finished third for a 10th podium in a strong first season with Ferrari, which included an F1-leading seven poles - two more than Hamilton and Bottas - and two wins. "I struggled from the beginning of Q1 and just didn't get the most out of it which is frustrating". The rapidly-changing conditions were a challenge to the teams as they sought to maintain and improve tyre performance. We need to push very hard to provide the drivers with the quickest possible auto.

"We will find the racing spirit, I think everything is possible, we have a good auto and normally Sunday is better than Saturday for us, so we will give what I have for sure". That was a moment I had been waiting for since I started in karting.

"When I got in the vehicle, it was the job as usual", said the 32-year-old, who aims to return to the future.
