Apple has noted that the decision to permanently remove vaping-related apps follows the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's ascertainment that "vaping products resulted in 42 deaths in the United States and contributed to over 2,000 cases of lung injury".

Vaping has been already criticized as a "gateway" to tobacco or other addiction as it is facing unprecedented scrutiny amid a mysterious epidemic which is linked to e-cigarette use that has killed around 39 and sickened more than 2,000 mostly young people in the US. As of it today, these apps will no longer be available to download on Apple Store. However, Apple device users who've already downloaded the apps will be able to continue using them.

"We take great care to curate the App Store as a trusted place for customers, particularly youth, to download apps", Apple told the outlet.

"We agree, and we've updated our App Store Review Guidelines to reflect that apps encouraging or facilitating the use of these products are not permitted".

Apple took this move after nearly 42 people died from vaping related lung disease and most of these victims were using cartridges containing Tetrahydrocannabinol or THC, though some exclusively used nicotine cartridges. The App stores guidelines provide a clue.
