Serkis is no stranger to superhero fare, appearing as baddie Ulysses Klaue in Black Panther while boarding the Venom sequel as its director. Haha, just kidding, Eric Wareheim isn't in The Batman.

Second, Andy Serkis (The Lord of the Rings) is in late-stage talks to play Bruce Wayne's trusty butler, Alfred Pennyworth, in the film.

News of Farrell's casting comes in the wake of Jonah Hill's decision to pull out of talks to portray either one of Riddler or the Penguin. Per Deadline, Colin Farrell is now in talks to play Oswald Cobblepot, aka the Penguin, and round out the ensemble cast. He has not only raised Bruce Wayne, but also the four young men who have worn the mask of Robin, the Boy Wonder: Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake and now, Damian Wayne.

Reeves previously commented on the multiple villains in the film by telling THR: "You can't have Batman without a villain".

"It's very much a point-of-view-driven, noir Batman tale".

Farrell previously played the villainous Bullseye in 2003's Daredevil opposite Ben Affleck, the previous actor to portray Batman on the big screen before The Batman's Robert Pattinson.
