Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino admitted he does not have the words to console disheartened players and fans after yesterday's 3-0 defeat at Brighton compounded a miserable week for Spurs.

"I know it's not the case", Dier said. They've now won just two of their last 10 games, and those came against Southampton and Crystal Palace.

"That's what we are going to do - face the negative things and try to work hard to change this dynamic".

"I hope we are still talking, in five years more, about my future here". The same when you praise me or the team.

"It is still so early in the season, we have the belief, it is so strong the belief".

"We attacked well, we defended well, we reacted when we lost the ball, we did everything we wanted to do".

Alabama held on to the No. 1 spot it took over last week in both college football rankings as both it and Clemson were off. OR was tested last week by a California defense that held them to just 17 points but they were able to get the victory.

"We want seven", the home supporters sung as they revelled in a fine afternoon, while Pochettino was also met with chants from the home fans of "sacked in the morning", as Tottenham's awful week ended on a sour note.

Another terrible error by goalkeeper Hugo Lloris led to Tottenham conceding inside three minutes, the goal compounded by the France captain sustaining a serious elbow injury and requiring oxygen as he was carried off the field. No excuses. The manager has been fantastic ever since he's been at the club and he's taken us to new heights. However, Pochettino isn't concerned that his time could be up in north London. "It doesn't only happen at Spurs, but all clubs in the world".

Later Saturday, Liverpool extended its lead at the top of the Premier League with a 2-1 home win over Leicester City, its eighth straight from the start of the season and 17th in a row dating back to last season.

From the minute - the third minute to be precise - Hugo Lloris spilled a straightforward catch, allowing Neal Maupay the simplest of finishes, Tottenham were on the back foot.

The contest had barely even started by the time their best-laid plans were thrown into chaos as they endured a nightmare start thanks to another Lloris howler.

Winks came on at half-time but could not affect the result and apologised to the club's fans. Spurs then faced bottom-half EPL team Brighton and Hove today with the tenacity of a lamb.
