Americans are apparently embracing the concept of super taxes for the super rich as articulated by self-styled socialist Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez says her pending appointment to the House panel that oversees Wall Street shows the financial industry's influence is waning in Washington.
An official announcement of the panel's membership could come later Tuesday evening, the Hill reported.
Because the committee plays a big role in setting policies for banks, hedge funds and insurers, its members are often known for their fundraising prowess. "What we see, overall, is that the vast majority of Americans know that income inequality is one of the biggest issues of our time".
Will the ISIS Attack Accelerate Trump's Syria Pullout?
Pentagon officials said then that initial withdrawals would be limited to equipment and that no troops had yet departed. A Kurdish news agency reported that three U.S. soldiers, two local security officers and 13 civilians died.
The 29-year-old Democratic socialist claimed on Twitter that she understood Trump "like the back of my hand", comparing him to men she encountered bartending in NY.
"I think that it only has ever been radicals that have changed this country", Ocasio-Cortez responded.
Ocasio-Cortez was elected in November after a major Democratic primary upset in June when she unseated the 10-term incumbent Joe Crowley, whose name had been floated as a potential House speaker. The panel will be chaired by Maxine Waters (Calif.), who is on the moderate wing of the Democrats.
"Personally", she said in another post, "I'm looking forward to digging into the student loan crisis, examining for-profit prisons/ICE detention, and exploring the development of public & postal banking".
