New Jets head coach Adam Gase is looking to fill out his staff, and reports indicate Williams is on his list of interest.

Gase was 23-26 in three seasons with Miami, including a playoff game in 2016, before being fired last week. Injuries and personnel errors doomed the Dolphins, and they were never close to contention in Gase's tenure again.

Gase followed coach John Fox to Chicago in 2015 to be the Bears' offensive coordinator. "Gase is going to be the head coach - he has been offered the job, he has accepted the job".

Miami faces the Jets twice a year, as both are in the AFC East. He was hired by the Dolphins as their head coach the following season.

'Good chance' Kitchens will be Browns' head coach
The Cleveland Browns have relieved interim head coach Gregg Williams of his duties, according to ESPN's Dan Graziano . Perhaps more importantly, Kitchens oversaw the successful rookie season of quarterback Baker Mayfield .

According to ESPN's Jeff Darlington, a deal between the Jets and Gase will be finalized late Wednesday or early Thursday.

McCarthy had been fired with four games left in the season after a poor start but is still on contract until 2019 where he is slated to make $8 million.

McCarthy was reportedly heavily interested in landing the Jets' job.

Gase has earned his reputation as a coach who works well with quarterbacks, but his offensive philosophies as a head coach often provided curious results. However, they do have rookie quarterback Sam Darnold, who showed flashes of his promise to become the team's potential franchise quarterback in his first season.
