Bayern Munich confirm signing World Cup victor Benjamin Pavard

The 22-year-old starred for France at the World Cup finals in the summer, playing at right-back for Didier Deschamps' side as they triumphed in Russian Federation.

French World Cup winning defender Benjamin Pavard will join Bayern Munich from Stuttgart on a five-year contract as of July 1, the defending German champions revealed Wednesday (Jan 9).

Benjamin Pavard's performances for France at the 2018 World Cup in Russian Federation were said to have caught the attention of Bayern Munich chiefs.

Bayern are now on their annual winter training camp in Doha as they prepare for the second half of the Bundesliga campaign.

Pavard impressed as Didier Deschamps' side claimed a second world title in Russian Federation past year. "We're glad and proud to have gained such a player for FC Bayern", said Salihamidzic, as per The Bundesliga.

Bayern's next competitive game comes on the 18 January, when they return from winter break with a game at Hoffenheim.

Salihamidzic also confirmed Bayern Munich's interest in Chelsea's starlet, Callum Hudson-Odoi.
