The cadres claimed that the film's content is against the party and that it will create unrest in the state. On Thursday (November 8) night, Sun Pictures, on their official Twitter handle, posted that Chennai police officials were going to arrest Sarkar director Murugadoss. The film is produced by the Kalanithi Maran-owned Sun Pictures, and also stars Keerthy Suresh and Radharavi.

Earlier, AR Murugadoss had also tweeted that police came in barging at his residence when he was not at home.

According to Tamil film industry sources, "relevant scenes" in "Sarkar" have been removed and the theatres will now start screening the "edited" version.

However, recently in an interview, TTV Dhinakaran revealed that Komalavalli is not the birth name of Jayalalithaa. "So the issue has come to an end", Raju said.

To a question, Raju said the party's opposition had nothing to do with criticism of the government as a film earlier had even made some references to AIADMK founder and late Chief Minister M G Ramachandran, who enjoyed cult status among the masses.

The attacker is in hospital in a critical condition and investigators have not released any information about his identity. They had initially thought the man was running to catch a tram close by, before a nearby police auto rushed to the scene.

"The protests (against the film) will not continue", he told reporters here.

AIADMK has alleged that scenes in the movie criticise previous Tamil Nadu Government of J Jayalalithaa. A police complaint too was filed against Murugadoss as protesters demanded removal of controversial scenes.

On Thursday, the AIADMK was up in arms against "Sarkar" with senior state ministers demanding deletion of the contentious scenes, besides threatening to initiate legal action if the film crew failed to comply.

Since the beginning "Sarkar" is surrounded by sea of controversies.
