With eight days to go before the midterm elections, Trump has continued to hold his political rallies, complete with harsh criticism of Democrats and the media.

Cohen is Jewish and also a member of the Tree of Life synagogue that was attacked. Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner will accompany the President and the First Lady, CNN has learned. He knew nine of the people who were killed, he told the Tribune-Review. Marie, ON, at 7:00 p.m. Security will be present.

Some held signs saying things such as "President Hate, leave our state" and "Trump lies kill".

Trump's Pittsburgh visit is not the only element of the administration's response to the massacre that has been a source of controversy.

Following the tragic shooting this morning at Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Cardinal Daniel N. DiNardo of Galveston-Houston, President of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) issued a statement calling for prayer and action to put an end to violence. The Trumps laid stones on markers honoring the victims, a Jewish tradition.

Top congressional leaders from both political parties rejected invitations from Trump to join him in visiting.

A spokesman for Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said he already had events in his home state of Kentucky, pushing back on the suggestion that he declined.

Speaker Paul Ryan wasn't able to make it because of the short notice for the trip, according to Ryan's spokeswoman, AshLee Strong. Democratic Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi also opted not to participate.

Questions have long swirled about the president's credibility as a unifier.

A group of Jewish activists in Pittsburgh told the President in an open letter that his words and policies over the past three years "have emboldened a growing white nationalist movement", and that he is not welcome until he "fully (denounces) white nationalism".

At the end of the rally Pence, a devout Christian and hero of evangelicals, invited Jacobs back to say a prayer for the victims as "a leader of the Jewish community here in MI". The death toll includes a set of brothers, a husband and wife, professors, dentists and a physician.

Myers, his voice quivering, told the Rosenthals' parents and other family members: "The entire world is sharing its grief with you, so you don't walk alone". To Marianne Novy, Trump wasn't wanted "unless he really changes his ways". "It is the responsibility of good people everywhere to speak out and stand up for each other's rights to worship and live peacefully".
