The review suggests that Apple has made some noticeable improvements with this year's iPhone range but not enough to topple Samsung's Galaxy Note 9 hardware from the top of the smartphone hierarchy.

Intel's new XMM7560 modem is capable of communicating with networks run by all four major USA carriers. The hardware tests were done using the Rohde & Schwarz measurement equipment. For real-world results, we used the week of September 24, 2018 from Ookla's massive crowdsourced Speedtest Intelligence database.

A new series of tests have revealed that the Intel LTE modems in Apple's latest iPhones fall short of the Qualcomm chips being used in competitors' devices.

This year, Apple's new iPhone XS and XS Max phones both have 4x4 MIMO, which should put them closer to par with other leading flagships.

The speed test battle on a video compared iPhone XS' A12 Bionic processor to Samsung Galaxy Note 9's Snapdragon 845 in multitasking performance.

Trump says Saudi King wouldn't last two weeks without United States support
He further added, "we defend many of these nations for nothing, and then they take advantage of us by giving us high oil prices. Meanwhile, U.S. gasoline prices are up ahead of November midterm elections in which Trump already faces political headwinds.

Ookla noted that the iPhone X performance after upgrading from iOS 11 to iOS 12 is similar to the performance levels of Qualcomm versions of iPhone X running iOS 11. The iPhone XS and XS Max also get 4×4 MIMO antennas, which boost speed and performance in areas with weak cellular signals.

Overall, the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max performed almost on par with the Galaxy Note 9 and Pixel 2.

One area where the iPhone XS and XS Max could do with improvement is on their overall toughness. When it comes to very weak signals or levels below -120dBm, iPhone XS is comparable to the Qualcomm phones, though a lot better than the original iPhone X.

That's still a conversation that you're going to have to have with your wallet, but PCMag has provided a little more data to tip the scales in favor of the iPhone XS.

As a result, Consumer Reports says that users, "should probably consider investing in a sturdy protective case if you purchase an iPhone XS or XS Max".
