Meghan stuns at first solo royal appearance

Meghan Markle was arriving at the Royal Academy of Arts to attend the opening of an art exhibit titled "Oceania" in her first solo outing as a royal, when she broke protocol through casually shutting her own vehicle door.

Footage of the moment quickly appeared on Twitter, and the reaction from some was nothing short of hysterical.

Another tweeted: " She closes her own door.

Ah, yes - everyone loves a royal rebel ignoring the rule book.

It may be the case that Meghan is simply comfortable in black - but we reckon she's making a statement about her role by choosing this colour.

While there are undoubtedly guidelines royals are expected to adhere to in public - refraining from voicing their political opinions, for instance - it seems the royal-adoring public is, well, inventing a lot of them.

Etiquette and protocol coach William Hanson told BBC News that Meghan didn't breach the royal protocol. Good thing she has arms and is able to close the door!

Not everyone was quite so taken with Meghan's door-closing gesture.

Fans on social media couldn't get enough of Meghan's latest move, calling the 36-year-old royal "humble" and "down to earth".
