It's good that Apple's managed to retain the form factor while making the screen bigger, and the mix of the fitness and more medically-aimed features will broaden the attraction of owning an Apple Watch.

The display on the Series 4 is 30 percent larger than last year's model and comes in new 40mm and 44mm casing options, that are claimed to fit in a smaller footprint than last year's variants. That's a 64-bit Dual-Core processor, designed by Apple to be up to 2x faster than its predecessor. Also, thanks to a new sensor on the back, you can take an electrocardiogram (ECG) any time, in 30 seconds, by holding your finger on the top of the Watch.

New watch faces have also made their way to the Apple Watch Series 4.

Apple says it will start taking pre-orders for the Global Positioning System and cellular versions on September 14, most likely around 12 a.m. PT / 3 a.m. ET. Apple is also dropping the price of Series 3 watches to $279 immediately. A new thing! A visual change to the Apple Watch, finally! The Apple Watch also intermittently analyzes heartbeats in the background for irregularities, or if it exceeds or falls below a specified threshold.

Apple has also been working on expanded health sensors, which now appear on the new Apple Watch. As soon as the watch determines a fall, it will automatically call the emergency contact set by you.

United Kingdom pricing for Series 4 to follow.

Speaking of breathing, Apple has taken its health features up a notch, including a new watch face that guides users through a deep breathing exercise. There is no ceramic or gold Apple Watch Edition version of the Series 4. Pre-orders of the smartwatch starts on Friday Sept 14.

Tesla cuts number of stock colours to streamline production
Needham analyst Rajvindra Gill struck a extra cautious tone on Tesla , highlighting longer-time interval hurdles for the firm. On Sep. 7, Bloomberg reported that Tesla's HR chief, Gabrielle Toledano, won't return after taking a leave in August.

Apple's event was held at the Steve Jobs Theater at its new circular headquarters in Cupertino, California, named after the company's co-founder who wowed the world with the first iPhone in 2007.

The Apple Watch was officially named the Series 4 during the September 12 event.

As for the battery, the company is promising an all-day battery life the same 18 hours that customers are used to.

The new Apple Watch's crown dial now has haptic feedback that subtly clicks as you turn it, and the speaker has been upgraded and moved so that Siri's responses, and speakerphone calls, are actually audible in noisy environments. The new Apple Watch has an updated backside, too, allowing the device to transmit radio waves from the front and the back which should give you better cellular reception.

Two other health features, the fall detection and low heart rate alerts, only kick on when you experience those issues, so I wasn't able to test them for myself by falling over or slowing my heart rate to a crawl. The cellular version starts at $749.

To be extra clear, the Apple Watch Series 4 is created to work with any existing wristbands. Williams says those features will be available this year.
