Cleveland selected Mayfield out of Oklahoma with the No. 1 pick in the 2018 draft.

They kick off the 2018 preseason with their first game Thursday night at 7 p.m. against the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium.

His long run went for 19 yards. Then he bounced it outside and gained the edge on flat-footed Browns CB Damarious Randall.

No. 2 overall pick Saquon Barkley made a splash in his National Football League debut Thursday night.

Storm watch in effect as Hurricane Hector nears Hawaii
Hawaii emergency officials are keeping track of a hurricane that's expected to pass to the south of the islands this week. A turn toward the northeast is forecast by this afternoon, and that motion should continue into Thursday.

Baker Mayfield, the first pick in April's draft, passed for 212 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Browns to a 20-10 win in the game. It was impressive to see Mayfield patiently roll through his progressions - eyes scanning the field - before finding the massive-bodied tight end near the back of the end zone.

Mostly notably, the additions of veterans Tyrod Taylor and Jarvis Landry. Spencer Drago was called for holding, though, setting up third-and-18. He continued marching the offense, twice keeping the drive alive with his legs - on third-and-6 and fourth-and-2 - to set up Cleveland with first-and-goal.

It was all so familiar for Sooners fans and novel for Clevelanders.

That connection wasn't finished as Mayfield opened the fourth quarter with a 54-yard touchdown lob to the fourth-round wideout, who finished with 87 yards off three catches and looked good doing it.
