Observer missions from the European Union and the United States questioned the delay of the presidential elections results, saying this could negatively affect the credibility of the election.

Even before the violence, European Union observers questioned the conduct of the presidential and parliamentary vote, the first since Mugabe's forced resignation after almost 40 years in charge of the southern African nation.

The EU's assessment is critical in determining whether Zimbabwe can fix its image and attract the foreign investors needed for an economic revival.

According to the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) results, Mnangagwa's ZANU-PF was cruising to victory after claiming 109 seats in a 210-seat parliament.

"I would like to ask for as fast as possible the release of the presidential election", he said.

Now, almost 48 hours after polls closed, voters still await an official answer about who won the country's presidential election - and suspicion of electoral wrongdoing has gathered intensity in the capital city's streets.

The first parliamentary results trickled in this morning and put Emmerson Mnangagwa in the lead to win the landmark election in Zimbabwe.

Elon Musk is setting new targets as well saying the goal is to produce 6,000 Model 3's a week by the end of this month. But the progress the company made slowing how much it was burning through won plaudits even from skeptics.

"The strategy is meant to prepare Zim mentally to accept fake presidential results. We won the popular vote & will defend it!" "No amount of results manipulation will alter your WILL", he said on Twitter. "This situation in town, you must remember it was fomented by none other than Nelson Chamisa because during his campaign trail he said if he loses elections, he will make sure that this country is ungovernable". This development has been necessitated by the fact that the degree of disturbances of law and order have reached a magnitude where our regular police officers, as well as our reserve members, have been unable to cope with this situation.

Mnangagwa has called on Zimbabweans to "desist provocative declarations and statements".

However, the Opposition alliance alleged the election was rigged in favour of ZANU-PF which has been in power since the southern African nation gained independence in 1980. Its population of 13 million is struggling amid shortages of foreign currency, unemployment above 80 percent and lack of foreign investment.

With more results to be declared, the party has a chance of gaining the two-thirds majority that would allow it to change the constitution at will.

Voters in Zimbabwe traditionally pick a presidential candidate based on their party affiliation and the trend in the parliamentary election was expected to continue when results for the president are announced this week.

"While we appreciate that the electoral environment was relatively peaceful and a huge turnout at polling stations, we reiterate that electoral processes must always reflect and uphold the true will of the citizens", the coalition said on Wednesday. The opposition has spoken of vote-rigging, saying results were not posted outside a fifth of the country's almost 11,000 polling stations.

Anti-riot police backed by water cannon trucks monitored the demonstrators, while MDC supporters also protested outside the conference center where election results are being announced. They vowed not to leave the streets until Zec addressed their issues.
