A massive rally was taken out by students in Uri town in Baramulla district in support of the victim, reports reaching here said. However, security forces deployed in the area stopped students from moving ahead. "Two others, who had suffered minor bruises, were given first aid and discharged", a doctor at Anantnag district hospital, said.
Following the protests, all the educational institutions and business establishments were closed in the Anantnag town for the day.

Security forces on Tuesday burst teargas shells to disperse students of Degree College Sopore in north Kashmir district of Baramulla, protesting against rape and brutal murder of an eight-year-old girl in Kathua in Jammu region. The protest was also organized by JK Youth Development Forum at Press Enclave Srinagar. The protestors accused the police of using force at some places to quell protests, a charge denied by the police. The clashes left four students injured. Among the injured, two persons, one shopkeeper and a pedestrian received pellet wounds and were referred to Srinagar hospital for specialized treatment.
