Riess was arrested without incident at a restaurant in South Padre Island, Texas, last night by two deputy marshals.

A nationwide manhunt resulted in the apprehension and arrest of Riess at a South Padre Island, Texas restaurant.

She's then suspected of stealing the identity of a woman she met, and then killing her.

The arrest was based on a tip to the U.S. Marshals saying she was in the area. She could be facing a judge in Texas within the next 48 hours. He said she had checked in at a local hotel.

CBS San Antonio affiliate KENS-TV reports that Marceno said in a statement after the arrest, "I promised all along that Lois Riess would end up in a pair of handcuffs".

"Today's a huge win", Marceno told reporters. "And she will become more desperate and may kill again". That was our main concern.

Riess had been on the run since at least late March, when her husband, David Riess, was found fatally shot at their home in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota. The auto was also seen in north Florida, where Riess was later believed to be staying at a hotel in Ocala after she was spotted by surveillance cameras. She was buying a sandwich and asked for driving directions out of state. Riess tried to make a $200 purchase at a gas station in Louisiana, authorities said.

Three Billings police officers who admitted having sex on city property with a civilian employee of the department were given either one- or two-week suspensions without pay, Police Chief Rich St. John said Wednesday.

In tracking a timeline of events, deputies say that Riess met with Hutchinson while on Fort Myers Beach on April 5, and that Hutchinson was targeted by the woman due to their similar appearance.

"We want her in Fort Myers", said Marceno.

Surveillance video showed Riess smiling and talking with Hutchinson on April 5 at a brewery in Fort Myers Beach.

Police said they believe Riess stole them to assume Hutchinson's identity, since the two looked alike.

Hutchinson had moved to Florida previous year from Virginia Beach, Virginia. Riess was eventually identified by a tipster in South Padre.

"Right now it's still in the air". "Florida, of course, has second degree [murder] charges filed, which gives us extra time to build a strong case for her [in Minnesota]".

Several bank transactions and Riess' interest for gambling had given investigators some clues to find her.

Riess immediately turned and walked away, muttering "Wrong number, wrong number", Koster said.
