Jota and Afobe kick off Wolves promotion party

Wolverhampton Wanderers earned promotion to the Premier League before they kicked a ball this weekend after Fulham drew 1-1 at home to Brentford on Saturday.

Wolves will now focus on claiming the title with only four points needed from their remaining games to ensure they go up as Champions this season.

Their success is not without controversy, however, following their tie-up with Portuguese super-agent Jorge Mendes. But rival clubs have complained to the English Football League about the relationship between Wolves and Mendes.

"Not legal and fair (to) let one team owned by a fund who has shares in the biggest players' agency with evident benefits (top European clubs giving players with options to buy. why the other 23 teams can't have the same treatment?)".

Both teams have seen exceptionally well individual performances with in the form of Dwayne Bravo and Sam Billings for CSK . The other contributions came from the in-form K L Rahul (37 off 22), Mayank Agarwal (30 off 19) and Karun Nair (29 off 17).

The way Wolves have achieved promotion has drawn criticism, however.

But Neal Maupay's last-gasp headed equaliser sent Wolves up and damaged Fulham's own prospects.

Wolves, leaders of the Championship for much of the season, are nine points clear of second Cardiff and 10 above third Fulham, who were on course for another victory after Aleksandar Mitrovic scored in the 70th minute.

Millwall extended their 17-game unbeaten league run with a 1-1 draw at Sheffield United to remain in the final playoff place. The betting firm have Wolves listed at odds of just 10/11 to finish in the top half of the table next season while relegation odds of 6/1 will surely see them some way from being favourites for the drop.
