We might not mimic Steve Harvey's scotch and cigar, but there was something otherworldly about the end of last year's ceremony that shook viewers out of the numbness of yet another bland telecast.

When we last left the Academy Awards, a befuddled Warren Beatty and a clueless Faye Dunaway had just given the Oscar for Best Picture to the wrong movie.

The Academy is apparently going to give Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway a second chance at presenting the biggest prize of the night at the annual Academy Awards.

Show producers Mike DeLuca and Jennifer Todd are sure this year's show will not have a mistake like the one from last year, but said live shows can have unexpected moments at times.

Guillermo del Toro's monster fable "The Shape of Water" comes in with leading 13 nominations, but many peg Martin McDonagh's darkly comic revenge drama "Three Billboards" as the front-runner despite the film's divisiveness among critics. Meanwhile, both Sam Rockwell and Frances McDormand are considered locks in the best supporting actor and best lead actress categories, respectively. "This is Moonlight, the best picture".

Other presenters on the night are expected to include Stone presenting Best Actor, last year's Best Supporting Actor victor Mahershala Ali, who'll present Best Supporting Actress and last year's victor of that category Viola Davis, who will present Best Supporting Actor.

Meanwhile, members of the Washington press corps made fun of both Trump and his 2016 presidential rival Hillary Clinton. Another target was former chief strategist Steven Bannon: " That guy leaked more than the Titanic ".
