Credit for the script itself goes to Coogler and Joe Robert Cole, but both Donald and Stephen Glover get thanked in the credits for Black Panther. "I am just happy that there is a movie celebrating our culture".
AS a person of color, I will not be biased and follow some critics who say Black Panther "raises the bar for the next set of superhero movies" when that's really not the case, at least from my point of view. It features Lupita Nyong'o, Michael B. Jordan, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker and Andy Serki.
In a photograph posted on Marvel Studios' official Instagram page, Coogler shared that his cast and crew never anticipated the level at which "Black Panther" would touch movie-goers. This is because, in the comic books, T'Challa's father is killed when he is very young - whereas in the film he is much older. It's a film that took it's time to get up to speed, and when it did, it was somewhat satisfying enough. Following this formula, Doom's motion control is about as close to the ideal fit as the arrangement has ever come. Now Bethesda is making the most out of the Switch's handheld nature by adding motion controls to the shooter.
Obviously this is a joke, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel real sentimental pangs imagining myself flying through the rainforest and into the Kingdom of Wakanda.
It's also worth holding Black Panther's box office performance up against the most recent offering from the DCEU.
Killmonger's idea of black liberation is similar to those of the great Oakland-based revolutionaries in the Black Panther Party and Black Lives Matter.
If not many of you know me personally, I am a half white, half Mexican, Bay Arean who happens to be passionate about social injustice.
Instead of throwing my hat in the ring and adding onto the shitpile of think pieces, I figured I would round up some of the more interesting (and ridiculous) takes I've read since the film's release.
