Two police officers were shot and killed in the line of duty Saturday north of Columbus, according to WBNS.
Police said one officer was pronounced dead at the scene.
"These were two of the best we have", said Morbitzer. Townhall will update when more detail is available. "Both officers gave their life in the protection of others", said Chief Joe Morbitzer.
The shooting happened just before 1 p.m., according to Columbus Police.

"It is with a heavy heart we report a second Westerville officer has been killed in the line of duty", the City of Westerville wrote on its official Twitter account. Joering was killed at the scene, and Morelli later died at the hospital. The suspect's condition and identity have not been released.
"Our hearts and prayers are with the Westerville officers, their friends, families and the Westerville Police Department at this hard time", Bacon wrote.
The investigation is being led by the Columbus Police Department, Morbitzer confirmed. "Please remember these officers - and all officers - in your prayers".
