Officer reportedly killed, two others wounded south of Atlanta
Multiple police officers were shot Friday morning in Henry County, Georgia, located about 40 minutes south of Atlanta. Both sheriff's deputies were wearing bulletproof vests at the time of the incident, McBrayer said.
"It is with a heavy heart we report a second Westerville officer has been killed in the line of duty", the City of Westerville wrote on its official Twitter account. His nomination cited the following: Officer Morelli ranks number one on the shift for the following categories: case reports, incident reports, accidents, and OVIs. Joering was killed at the scene, and Morelli later died at the hospital. The suspect's condition and identity have not been released.
"Our hearts and prayers are with the Westerville officers, their friends, families and the Westerville Police Department at this hard time", Bacon wrote.
The investigation is being led by the Columbus Police Department, Morbitzer confirmed. "Please remember these officers - and all officers - in your prayers".
