"We got a duck season, a deer season, but we don't have a flu season", Copeland said. The flu is NOT a season we have here because Jesus has borne ALL our sickness on the cross. Do not accept it when someone threatens you "everyone gets sick with flu".

In a video posted on January 31 on the Kenneth Copeland Ministries Facebook page, Gloria Copeland tells viewers to "inoculate yourselves with the word of God". Many people criticized her comments, saying they were reckless, ignorant and irresponsible.

"We know what's wrong with you".

"If you say, 'Well, I don't have any symptoms of the flu, ' well, great, that's the way it's supposed to be", she says in the video. "Now, which do you want to do? Do you want to do that, or do you want to sit in here on a Saturday morning, hear the word of God, let faith come into your heart and be healed?"

Eagle Mountain International Church, led by the Copelands' daughter Terri Pearsons in Tarrant County, was scrutinized in 2013 when its congregants were exposed to measles after a visitor who had been overseas attended a service. Numerous congregants had not been vaccinated, and 21 people fell ill with the contagious disease, the AP reported. "If however, you do get the flu, you can overcome it!" "We simply didn't do it", a former church member, Amy Arden, told the AP at the time. Copeland once told a woman with cancer that she could either take "some poison" that will make her sicker, or she could go to church and be healed by the word of God.

However, for those people who had contracted flu, Copeland said she was praying for them: "Flu, I bind you off of the people in the name of Jesus".

"I have such tremendous respect and admiration for this group and I look forward to continuing to talk about the issues important to Evangelicals, and all Americans, and the common sense solutions I will implement when I am President", Trump said in the release at the time. Just keep saying that. "I'll never have the flu.' Inoculate yourself with the word of God", Copeland said.

This science suggests that perhaps inoculating yourself with words, even God's own, may not be enough.

Copeland didn't immediately respond to a request for enlightenment.

A devastating flu outbreak has killed dozens since October. Rates of the virus in California are already showing double the cumulative hospitalization rate, CNN reported. Agency officials have earlier predicted an unusually high number of pediatric deaths from the illness.

In the Copeland family's home state, almost 14.5 percent of hospital and doctor visits during the last week of January were for flu-related symptoms, according to the San Antonio Express-News.
